Refugees, migrants at Piraeus port reach 1,407
Refugees and migrants temporarily staying at Piraeus port came to 1,407 people on Friday, the Greek coast guard said. According to authorities, 707 people were staying at the E-1 gate and another 700 at the Petrini Apothiki.
The Greek coast guard said 580 refugees and migrants were transferred from the Piraeus port area to the Elaionas shelter on Thursday, while more refugees and migrants were expected to be taken to other shelters on Friday.
Meanwhile, a ferry boat carrying 33 refugees and migrants from Mytilene arrived in Piraeus on Friday.
