ND’s Georgiadis, Tzavaras take legal action against deputy health minister
New Democracy Vice President Adonis Georgiadis (photo) and conservative MP Costas Tzavaras are taking lead action against Deputy Health Minister Pavlos Polakis and ministry aides in connection to a list of appointees at the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention, KEELPNO. In a complaint filed with the Supreme Court, the conservatives allege the illegal processing of files and breaking privacy laws.
Polakis recently ousted former KEELPNO chief Thanasis Giannopoulos, accusing him of not cooperating in a government move to overhaul the organization by blocking new appointments.
Giannopoulos subsequently accused Polakis of compiling the list of appointees himself as opposed to using a process based on meritocracy.
