New chief takes over at Center for Disease Control and Prevention amid controversy
The new head of the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), Theofilos Rosenberg, assumed his position on Tuesday. He replaces Thanasis Giannopoulos, who last month vowed to take legal action against the government for removing him from his post.
Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis accused the former KEELPNO chief of not cooperating in a government initiative to clean up the organization by blocking legitimate appointments.
Giannopoulos, for his part, accuses Polakis of drawing up the list of appointees himself rather than relying on a meritocratic process.
