Refugees, migrants reach 54,142 in Greece on Monday
The number of identified refugees and migrants across Greece reached 54,142 on Monday, the ANA-MPA news agency reported. The figures were released by Greece's Central Coordinating Body for the Management of Migration.
According to the coordinating body, 8,150 refugees and migrants were staying on the Greek islands – including 64 people who had arrived over the last 24 hours – while 14,449 were located in areas across Attica.
About 2,135 refugees and migrants were located at Piraeus harbor, while 2,880 people were being hosted in a shelter in Skaramagas, west of Athens. Refugees and migrants in central Greece reached 1,928 on Monday, while those located in southern Greece came to 338.
At the Idomeni camp in northern Greece, refugees and migrants reached 10,172 people on Monday, while 1,137 were staying at the area of the Polykastro gas station. Authorities reported that a total of 29,277 refugees and migrants were currently located in northern Greece.
