Chios residents block road to hot spot
A group of about 10 Chios residents on Thursday blocked the road leading to the island’s hot spot in an effort to prevent 10 containers from reaching the refugee and migrant camp.
According to reports, the containers were transporting kiosks to house the services provided by members of the European Union’s European Asylum Support Office who are currently in charge of processing asylum applications on the island.
While authorities informed protesting locals of the containers' contents, the latter reportedly believed the material was expected to serve for an extension of the refugee and migrant camp.
