Anarchist group claims attack on downtown Athens precinct
A group of self-styled anarchists claimed responsibility for a firebomb attack on the police precinct in Exarchia, central Athens, last weekend, accusing the police of protecting local drug dealers.
In a document posted on an anti-establishment website on Wednesday, the group accused the police in the area of trying to curb anarchists’ “actions” against the local drug trade and wanting to “suppress the youth proletariat.”
In the attack last Sunday, dozens of hooded youths pelted the police precinct with firebombs, with some using sledgehammers to damage the guard post and parked cars.
Separately, anarchists claimed responsibility for vandalizing Petralona electric railway station last Friday.
