Suspects behind at least 149 burglaries in Attica arrested
Police on Monday announced the arrest of five suspected members of a prolific burglary ring believed to be behind dozens of break-ins across southeastern Attica.
Officers detained the suspects – all members of the Roma community and aged between 22 and 42 – after catching them breaking into a house in Koropi.
Subsequent raids on the suspects’ homes turned up a wealth of jewelry, electronic appliances and other valuables.
The ring has been linked to 149 break-ins in several areas including Koropi, Keratea, Rafina and Loutraki. Police said they were seeking several suspected accomplices.
