Authorities warn of sandstorm on Crete on Friday
Public health authorities on the island of Crete have forecast a sandstorm over the island on Friday and issued a warning saying that the volume of coarse dust particles – airborne PM10 particles – will exceed the safety limit.
The storm is expected to affect the entire island, but especially the regions of Hania and Lasithi.
The sandstorm – originating in North Africa – will begin later on Thursday and will be at its worst on Friday before subsiding by early Saturday morning.
Authorities are advising people over 65 and those with respiratory conditions to avoid exercise and outdoor activities.
