Filis and union slammed by Greek private schools association
The Association of Private Schools hit back Monday at claims by OIELE, the Federation of Private School Teachers, that the former is encouraging pupils’ parents to protest reforms being implemented by Education Minister Nikos Filis.
“In the tiny world of OIELE and the leftist universe of Mr Filis, the right of parents to pick what school their children go to is some abominable neoliberal barbarity,” said the schools.
“The freer parents are to judge and decide for the children… the greater the threat they represent to the Soviet-type education system that [the government is] trying to enforce in our country. Parents are not sheep or so stupid that they can be manipulated by private schools, unions or parties when their children’s future is at stake.”
