Police look for suspects in failed armed heist
Police are searching for two men after the failed robbery of an cash-carrying armored truck at an entrance to Voula hospital in southern Athens on Wednesday.
Wearing hoods and riding a moped, the two suspects reportedly held one of the truck’s security guards at gunpoint after he got out of his vehicle carrying a case filled with money.
But everything began to unravel when the truck driver reversed into their bike. One of the suspects fired a shot in the air, allowing the security guards to run for cover, leaving the case on the ground.
The two men tried to break it open with a sledgehammer, but to no avail due to a special safety mechanism. The suspects left the scene on foot empty-handed.
