Two migrants try to set themselves on fire in protest at border shutdown
Two men at the makeshift Idomeni camp on Greece’s northern border on Tuesday doused themselves in a flammable liquid and tried to themselves on fire, ANA-MPA news agency reported.
The two men, whose nationality was not known, were protesting the closure of the border by Greece’s northern neighbor, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), and demanding that it be reopened so that thousands of migrants and refugees trapped at the crossing could continue their journey to the north of Europe.
Other migrants that were also protesting the border closure quickly put out the flames before they could inflict any serious damage on the two protesters.
