Disruptions in rail service next week as workers walk off job
Travelers on Greek railways will face disruptions next week as the Panhellenic Federation of Railway Workers (POS) will hold a series of work stoppages as a forewarning of further action if the planned privatizations of rail service operator Trainose and carriage maintenance firm Rosco go ahead.
In a statement, the union bemoaned the state of neglect of Greek railways, which, it said, struggle to meet the bare minimum safety standard requirements and suffer from staff shortages as well as a lack of planning.
Stoppages will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 8 a.m., 1 to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight and the following Monday, March 28, from noon to 4 p.m.
