PASOK chief asks president to convene meeting of party leaders
During a discussion with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Tuesday, PASOK chief Fofi Gennimata requested a meeting of party leaders to discuss the country’s strategy with regard to the ongoing refugee and migrant crisis and the safeguarding of Greece’s sovereign rights.
In the meeting, Gennimata noted that the situation on the eastern Aegean islands, in Piraeus and at the country’s northern borders was turning into a “national tragedy.”
Pavlopoulos underlined that such a meeting must be initiated by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras but that he would be at the disposal of party leaders if such a request was made.
