Drugs found on prison chief

The warden at Trikala Prison has been suspended after being arrested in possession of cocaine, the Justice Ministry said Tuesday.

The prison official was caught with 0.7 grams of the drug by members of the police’s internal affairs department. The ministry said that a disciplinary process has been launched against the warden.

“We are confronting the problem of drugs in prison through inspections and with detox programs as well as ones to fight addiction,” said the Justice Ministry.

“Any other contact with drugs, regardless of who is involved, is dealt with through the necessary and fair method provided by the judicial system.”
