Flu season set to be a bad one
The number of people in Greece who have died after contracting the flu this winter rose by four to 18 on Monday, with experts predicting it could be one of the worst seasons in recent history.
As of Monday there were also 69 people with flu receiving treatment in intensive care units. So far, 113 people have been treated in ICUs.
“Based on the data so far, we think this flu season will be similar to the one in 2010-11, when a total of 370 cases needing intensive care were recorded, making it in this respect one of the worst in recent years,” Sotiris Tsiodras, an epidemiologist at the Hellenic Center for Disease Control & Prevention (KEELPNO), told Kathimerini.
