Suspect in murder, child abduction caught

A prosecutor in Polygyros, in the Halkidiki peninsula of northern Greece, is on Monday to question James Claude Lesi, a 34-year-old man accused of murdering his estranged wife and abducting their 4-year-old son earlier this month.

Lesi was arrested on Sunday after being found hiding in a shack in a rural part of Halkidiki. His son was with him and is said to be safe in the care of his grandparents after being examined by a social worker.

A large-scale manhunt had been launched for Lesi after his wife was found stabbed to death in her home in Ormylia, Halkidiki, on January 6, and one of their two sons was reported missing by her parents.

Lesi has allegedly confessed to the murder and abduction, and told investigators that he was hiding in different parts of Halkidiki throughout the period after the incident.
