Free coverage for uninsured cancer patients
The government will provide free health coverage to any cancer sufferers who are not insured, Health Minister Andreas Xanthos said on Thursday.
He told MPs that the relevant legislation would soon be brought to Parliament, meaning state hospitals would no longer be forced to turn people in this situation away or treat them unofficially.
In response to a question about the shortage of some cancer medicines at hospitals, Xanthos said that this had been caused by a technical problem that has now been resolved and there are no shortages.
