City of Athens offers heated shelter for homeless
Sixteen homeless people spent Monday night at two heated shelters provided by the City of Athens in response to the cold snap, authorities announced on Tuesday.
Two people who sought refuge from the cold were treated by members of humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders, the municipality said.
Both shelters are expected to remain open as long as the low temperatures persist, municipal authorities added.
The 1595 hotline provides information about shelters during extreme weather conditions.
