Conservative MP’s family cleared of fraud
The wife and brother of New Democracy MP Gerasimos Giakoumatos (photo) have been cleared of fraud relating to a retirement home they own, according to their lawyer.
The pair, along with an accountant and the home’s manager, were accused of not invoicing the full amounts they were receiving from clients.
The Financial Police acted after an anonymous tip-off and raided the premises in December 2012.
The defendants’ lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos said that the Misdemeanors Court had cleared all four suspects of any wrongdoing.
