Bailiff discovers body in freezer of Athens apartment
A bailiff on Tuesday discovered the body of a man in a freezer in an Athens apartment where he was delivering a seizure order.
The bailiff had entered the premises with the help of a locksmith in order to deliver a seizure warrant to an indebted Bulgarian national who had declared the property in the southern suburb of Kallithea as his home address.
The Bulgarian man was not in the apartment at the time of entry and the bailiff was searching the property for clues of his whereabouts when he came across the body in the freezer. Some reports suggested that it had been dismembered.
Police have cordoned off the scene, as an investigation gets under way to identify the victim and ascertain how he died.
