Homicide charges to be upheld in Kantaris murder
A prosecutor has recommended that an appeals court uphold homicide charges against two Afghan nationals for the killing of Manolis Kantaris, 44, in 2011. The two are already serving life plus 23 years in prison.
Kantaris was fatally stabbed on the way to pick up his car from a parking garage on Triti Septemvriou Street to take his pregnant wife to the hospital when he was attacked by three people who demanded that he hand over the camera he was carrying.
When he resisted, they started stabbing him in the back and neck before grabbing the camera and fleeing. A third suspect remains elusive.
The imprisoned pair have blamed the third suspect for the killing.
