Child dies following routine surgery in Crete
A coroner is due to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of a 4-year-old girl during routine surgery at the Venizelos Hospital of Iraklio, Crete, on Tuesday.
According to local media, the child was admitted to hospital for a procedure for swollen adenoids, which became marked by complications. The 4-year-old died shortly after being transferred to the intensive care unit of Iraklio General Hospital.
A post-mortem is expected to shed light on the cause of death.
