Father, mother, uncle and aunt convicted over man’s killing
A 76-year-old man from the Peloponnese has been handed a life sentence for murdering his 39-year-old son and then trying to burn the body. The incident occurred in the area of Kynouria in August 2014 but the verdict was delivered late on Friday by a court in Tripoli.
The man’s wife, and the victim’s mother, was handed a 10-year-sentence, while the 76-year-old’s brother was also given a life sentence for taking part in the burning of the body. His wife was handed a two-year sentence.
Following his arrest last year, the victim’s father said that the 39-year-old had been abusive towards his parents for a number of years, often physically attacking them, and that this led to him shooting his son.
