Moroccan migrants moved to Corinth camp after clashes at Athens stadium
Around 120 migrants from Morocco have been moved from the impromptu camp at the Taekwondo stadium in southern Athens to a detention center in Corinth, west of Athens.
Authorities took the action after clashes between migrants at the stadium on Saturday, when the police was forced to intervene and detain around 100 people.
Hundreds of migrants have been staying at the former Athens 2004 Olympics site since last week, when they were bussed there from Idomeni on Greece’s border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
The detention center in Corinth was only housing 10 people following the government’s decision earlier this year to release dozens of migrants.
