Eight face prosecutor following march marking 1973 student uprising

Eight people appeared before a prosecutor Wednesday in Athens charged with rioting-related offenses following Tuesday’s march to commemorate the 1973 student uprising against the junta.

Trouble broke out in the Exarchia neighborhood of Athens after thousands of protesters had marched peacefully from Athens Polytechnic to the US Embassy.

Several cars and shops were damaged during the disturbances.
