Thessaloniki general hospital given life-saving cash injection
The Health Ministry on Friday approved an additional 4.7 million euros in funding for the Papageorgiou General Hospital in Thessaloniki.
The decision by minister Andreas Xanthos comes after 14 mayors in the northern port city sent a letter to the government warning that unless the hospital received a fresh injection of funds, its continued operation would be in jeopardy.
The hospital is also expected to receive an additional 10 million euros it is owed by healthcare provider EOPYY.
