Police arrest alleged gang leader in Hydra murder
Police have made one more arrest in connection with the murder of a 67-year-old restaurant owner on the Saronic island of Hydra in August.
The man, a Georgian national, is the eighth suspect to be held in the case and he is believed to be the head of the gang. Police said they are still looking for his partner, also a member of the gang.
The suspects, who have denied any involvement in the killing, are alleged to have broken into the restaurant owner’s home, tied him up and tortured him before fleeing with jewelry and cash, according to police.
A coroner’s report indicated that the 67-year-old had been suffocated and died of a heart attack. His body was covered with bruises.
