Ferry boat workers to join Thursday’s general strike
Greece’s ferry boats will remain tied up on Thursday as the union of dockworkers, PNO, decided on Tuesday to join a general strike organized by umbrella unions GSEE and ADEDY.
PNO had also been on strike for four days last week, leading to major disruptions on the country’s islands and particularly those hosting large numbers of refugees trying to reach the mainland on their way to northern Europe.
PNO and dozens of other workers’ unions that will be taking part in the action are protesting labor and social security reforms demanded by Greece’s creditors in exchange for bailout funding.
