PM to visit Turkey for refugee talks
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is to visit Ankara on November 17 for talks that are expected to focus on the refugee crisis, Kathimerini understands.
The last-minute decision for the visit came amid growing pressure on Greece to cooperate with neighboring Turkey, which is the key transit country for refugees and migrants seeking a better life in Europe.
Although the refugee problem will top the agenda, it is likely that bilateral issues will be discussed in Tsipras’s talks with Turkish officials.
Separately, it remained unclear late on Friday night whether US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Athens at the end of next week, as anticipated.
