No ferry services as seamen strike Monday, Tuesday
Ferries stayed docked in ports across Greece on Monday, the first day of a 48-hour strike called by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Union (PNO) in protest at a fresh wave of austerity measures, part of a third bailout program signed by the country and its lenders.
The walkout, which was expected to continue on Tuesday, was described as a “warning” to authorities. The union was also set to join a 24-hour general strike called by ADEDY civil servants’ union and the GSEE private sectors’ union, for November 12.
