German foreign minister expected in Athens Thursday
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is expected in Athens on Thursday, where he will meet with high-ranking officials and receive an honorary doctorate.
Steinmeier is due to meet President Prokopis Pavlopoulos at 1 p.m., followed by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias. A working lunch with Kotzias has been scheduled, followed by a press conference.
On the evening of the same day, Steinmeier will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Piraeus at a special ceremony hosted by the Eugenides Foundation near Athens’s southern coast.
