Fyssas friend tells court of fatal stabbing
The Golden Dawn trial continued at Korydallos Prison, western Athens, on Wednesday, with a friend of Pavlos Fyssas, the rapper who was fatally stabbed by a member of the neo-Nazi party two years ago, describing the attack.
Dimitris Melachrinopoulos, who was with Fyssas on the night of his murder in Keratsini, near Piraeus, in September 2013, told the court how a group of assailants surrounded his friend. “It was like they formed a circle around him, making room for Roupakias,” he said, referring to Fyssas’s killer, Giorgos Roupakias, a GD member.
Later that night, at the local police precinct, Melachrinopoulos identified Roupakias as the killer. “He was completely passive, as if nothing had happened,” he said. The witness told the court he received several anonymous telephone calls after the murder from someone warning him “you’ll be next.”
