Garbage collection truck isolated after checks reveal high levels of radioactivity
Authorities at Athens’s only official landfill isolated a garbage collection truck after spot checks revealed that it was displaying levels of radioactivity that were 10 times above the safety limit.
The Attica Regional Authority revealed that the high level of radioactivity was discovered when the truck arrived at the Fyli landfill from the trash processing center in Schisto and underwent a routine inspection.
The vehicle was taken to an area outside of the landfill and experts from the National Center for Scientific Research were called to examine the truck and find out the cause of the high radioactivity levels.
