Police officer who kicked migrant on Lesvos identified, to face probe
A police officer who was photographed while kicking a refugee in a temporary reception center on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos has been identified, police sources indicated on Friday.
According to the sources, the officer is a member of a unit that was recently dispatched to the island from Athens to help oversee the registration of migrants and refugees arriving from neighboring Turkey.
The officer is expected to be summoned to explain himself following an urgent investigation into the incident ordered by the chief of the Greek Police force, Lieutenant General Dimitris Tsaknakis.
