EU grants 9.9 mln in flood aid to Greece
The European Union Solidarity Fund on Tuesday allocated 9.9 million euros to Greece to deal with the fallout from natural disasters.
Brussels awarded the funds to Greece, as well as 6.3 million euros to Bulgaria, to cover the cost of recovery operations in both countries following recent flooding.
“The EU Solidarity Fund is one of our strongest symbols of solidarity in times of need,” said Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu.
“Today we are bringing financial support to the regions of Greece and Bulgaria affected by the disasters of this winter, which caused considerable damage. Now we can start rebuilding, together.”
