Traffickers caught on Egnatia highway
Police in Thessaloniki have arrested two Bulgarian nationals, aged 49 and 28, on charges of illegal human trafficking.
The two suspects were found transporting 35 illegal Syrian refugees and migrants, including nine children, in a van at the Asprovalta junction on the Egnatia Highway on Friday.
According to authorities, they had allegedly been heading to Thessaloniki.
Both suspects were expected to face a prosecutor over the weekend.
