Farmers’ fund worker caught taking bribe
A 56-year-old employee at the farmers’ insurance fund (OGA) has been arrested on suspicion of asking for a 900-euro bribe to speed up the payment of a pension to a retired farmer.
The employee allegedly told the farmer he could ensure that members of the committee that approves pensions would fast-track his application.
The 56-year-old accepted 500 euros in cash as a down payment but was arrested when he pocketed the remaining 400 euros on Tuesday this week.
OGA said it would not stand for any corruption within the organization and called on citizens to report any improper behavior from employees.
