Popular Unity asks for vote recount
Popular Unity has asked for a partial recount of ballots cast in Sunday’s national elections that saw the SYRIZA splinter party narrowly miss the 3 percent threshold to enter Parliament, according to reports.
A request for a check in the municipalities of Athens, Peristeri, Acharnes and Nikaia was reportedly submitted by the party to the country’s Supreme Court on Wednesday. A decision is expected in the coming days.
The party, led by former energy minister Panayiotis Lafazanis, garnered 2.86 percent, or 155,242 votes.
