Separate domestic attacks leave 1 dead, 5 injured
A 46-year-old Thessaloniki woman and a policeman were hospitalized on Saturday with gunshot wounds after the woman’s brother, 47, shot her and then the officer when he tried to intervene.
The woman telephoned the police and an officer was dispatched to her home.
When she opened the door, she had already been shot in the leg, according to the police officer, who tried to disarm the man but was shot in the leg and shoulder.
The 47-year-old, who is said to be a drug addict, then turned the revolver on himself but he sustained only minor injuries.
Early on Sunday, another family tragedy occurred in Kalamata, in the Peloponnese.
A 35-year-old man stabbed his 37-year-old brother to death at the family home and then knifed his parents, leaving them with minor injuries.
