Man gets life for 2014 murder in Thessaloniki
A court in Thessaloniki on Wednesday handed a life sentence to a 46-year-old man found guilty of the October 2014 murder of a 29-year-old Georgian national in the suburb of Kalamaria who was found by passers-by.
The victim was stabbed in the chest following an argument over a 30-euro debt owed to him by the perpetrator from their activities at an illegal gambling den they both frequented.
The 46-year-old denied intending to kill the 26-year-old when he lured him to his apartment building on the pretext of giving him the money.
The court rejected the plea, saying the fact he brought a knife when he came back downstairs showed premeditation.
