Former SYRIZA deputies attacked with eggs in Kavala
Former SYRIZA lawmakers Costas Lapavitsas and Alexandra Tsanaka were attacked by a young man throwing eggs at them in Kavala, northern Greece, late Friday.
The deputies, who recently joined the ranks of the newly established breakaway Popular Unity party led by former Energy Minister Panayiotis Lafazanis, were being interviewed by local media at the time of the incident.
Independent Greeks leader and former defense minister Panos Kammenos also came under attack earlier this month when demonstrators threw eggs and hurled abuse at him on the eastern Aegean island of Kos. The protesters were allegedly objecting to the previous administration’s handling of the refugee and migrant crisis.
