Fire alert in Greece due to strong wind, rising heat
Civil protection authorities on Friday warned of a high chance of wildfires on Saturday due to rising temperatures and strong winds.
The areas that are most susceptible to fire this weekend are Viotia, Attica, Argolida, Corinth, Arcadia, Achaia, Ilia, Laconia and the islands of Evia, Skyros, Kythira, Chios and Lesvos.
Citizens are advised to refrain from any activities – such as barbecues or shrub-burning – that could cause a blaze.
Motorists have also been banned from protected areas of the Arcadia highlands, including Mainalo and the Parnonas Forest, from 6 a.m. on Saturday to 6 a.m. on Monday.
