Suspect in Cretan vendetta shooting to appear in court
A 25-year-old man is due to appear in court in Crete on Wednesday accused of shooting a 24-year-old at a taverna in the port of Hania on Monday, in what appears to have been part of a local vendetta.
The victim is in an induced coma in the hospital after having two bullets removed from his throat and head. The shooting appears to be linked to a 2011 incident when the victim’s father killed the gunman’s father.
As a result, the police are patrolling the families’ homes and have increased security at the hospital where the victim is being treated.
