Three arrested on holiday island of Myconos over drug, prostitution racket
Three men arrested on the Aegean holiday island of Myconos on charges of running a high-end prostitution and drug racket are due to face a prosecutor on Wednesday.
The suspects were apprehended following a weeks-long investigation that uncovered evidence suggesting they were responsible for procuring narcotics such as cocaine and methamphetamines, as well as female escorts, for wealthy Greek and foreign tourists at a number of the island’s clubs and hotels.
One of the suspects had been arrested in 2011 in connection with the armed robbery of a bank at Athens International Airport.
Police are investigating their professional contacts, which are said to include prominent businessmen on the island.
