Gastroenteritis outbreak in Halkidiki resort area
Health authorities in Halkidiki, northern Greece, are investigating the potential causes of dozens of cases of gastroenteritis in recent days, particularly in the Kassandra area.
According to staff investigating the outbreak, the majority of the cases were reported in the area of Fourka beach.
“There is no problem with the water as irrigation and tanks were checked a few days ago,” the deputy mayor of Kassandra, Vassilis Stakinis, told Athens-Macedonian News Agency, adding however that samples of water had been taken from homes in the area and sent for testing at state laboratories as a preventive measure.
