Woman accused of drawing her late mother’s pension for eight years

A 53-year-old woman is accused by the Financial Police of illegally drawing her dead mother’s two pensions and disability benefits for eight years, costing the IKA Social Security Foundation at least 140,000 euros, according to investigators.

The case file that was submitted to an Athens prosecutor on Wednesday contains evidence suggesting the unnamed woman had submitted a fake power of attorney with IKA following her mother's death.

The certificate allowed her to draw the deceased woman’s old age and widow’s pensions, as well as a disability benefit, from July 2007 to May this year
