President to host party leaders for lunch
President Prokopis Pavlopoulos is on Friday to host party leaders for a lunch to mark the anniversary of the restoration of democracy after the fall of the junta in 1974.
The lunch is to be attended by all party leaders except Golden Dawn chief Nikos Michaloliakos and the head of the Communist Party (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas, who will be replaced by the party’s spokesman Thanasis Pafilis.
In a statement issued ahead of the lunch Thursday, Pavlopoulos took the opportunity to take a clear position on Greece’s European prospects.
“Every other choice except that of remaining in the eurozone would clearly be disastrous for society, for the economy and for the nation,” he said.
