Creditor representatives will be in Athens ‘soon,’ EC official says
Representatives of Greece's creditors, the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, as well as the European Stability Mechanism, will be in Athens soon, EC spokesman Margaritis Schinas said on Monday.
In a briefing to reporters in Brussels, Schinas said the representatives will be back in Greek capital soon but did not provide further details.
The official also confirmed that a 7.16-billion-euro bridge loan was disbursed to Greece, as planned.
Government officials in Athens said earlier that orders had been issued for the repayment of debts to the ECB and IMF.
As regards a scheduled vote in Greece's Parliament on Wednesday on a second set of prior actions that were agreed during an EU leaders' summit, Schinas said EC officials were in contact with the Greek authorities about the completion of the new program.
Asked whether the Commission would be in favor of snap polls in the event that the current government is weakened, Schina said EC official never express an opinion about national elections.
