Bomb squad cordons off Israeli Embassy over suspicious package
A bomb disposal team on Tuesday cordoned off an area outside the Israeli Embassy in Athens following a telephone call warning of a suspicious package placed near the diplomatic mission, Naftemporiki daily has reported.
The package, a cardboard box, was spotted outside the embassy on the corner of Mouson Street and Kifissias Avenue in the northern Athenian suburb of Neo Psychico.
Experts will examine the package to ascertain whether it poses a security risk.
The Israeli Embassy was riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting in December. A guerrilla group calling itself Group of Popular Fighters had claimed responsibility for the attack.
