Judge call recess at Golden Dawn trial to decide on media coverage

The judge presiding over the trial of ultranationalist party Golden Dawn on Thursday called a brief recess following a request from the defense concerning media coverage at what is one of the biggest trials in Greece's modern history.

Lawyers for the more than 70 defendents that are on trial over the murder in September 2013 of musician Pavlos Fyssas and other alleged crimes requested that the trial be given full media coverage and that all proceeding were recorded. The request was challenged by the prosecutor, prompting the judge to call a recess so she can hear the two sides' arguments.

The trial, which is to determine whether Golden Dawn constitutes a criminal organization, has been adjourned several times since it commenced in April.
